Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at GymLab London

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is fast paced, fun, and will challenge your fitness. This is a martial art, effective self defence system, and great combat sport.

These classes can be taken to learn self defence, or to enter sport grappling tournaments and even mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Live drilling (commonly referred to as ‘rolling’) plays a major role in our training, and this will make your body fit and strong.

A form of martial arts training, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great combat sport that focuses on throwing, grappling, and ground fighting. This style is a derivative of the early 20th century Kodokan Judo, which is also a recently-developed system founded in 1882, and based on multiple schools of Japanese jujutsu. Like judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu promotes the principle that smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique; applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat an attacker.

New beginners are always welcome. A modern martial art, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is very similar to Judo, but with a greater emphasis on ground fighting (newaza). However, it is a perfect complement to our San Shou (San Da) Kickboxing training, since it shares similar concepts to this style of martial art training. You should also try our FitLab or StrikeLab training alongside this class to maximise your fitness training.
